SHOPPING

LET’S GO SHOPPING!

Shopping online is a great way to try out something new without being embarrassed in the stores or wearing yourself out going from store to store on your day off. Use the web for savings coupons, free shipping, and other special deals you won’t find in the stores.

Just because you may be a plus size, don’t feel like you have to wear clothes that are shapeless and hang off your body. That only makes you look bigger. Try to look for clothes that will show off those new curves you have without being skin tight. Remember the rule: Not too little and not too big.

As for jackets, find a long, straight one that doesn’t end at the waist or at the widest part of the hips. It should have a waist-defining belt or a slightly curved cut.

Pants that are slightly low-rise makes it appear that you have less in back. Avoid tapered pants; go for a straight leg which falls straight from the hip to the hem giving you a much slimmer look.

Fabrics should be soft so they drape your body; stiff materials will create unflattering lines and will be uncomfortable. Avoid large print materials which will draw attention to any area that it covers.

Dresses that wrap are a classic and can be adjusted to fit your top and the waist perfectly. Steer clear of large belts with big buckles and also anything that is layered which can add bulk to your figure. You want to look long and sleek.

Tops that are V-necked will be your best choice. You probably have cleavage, so show it off a little and draw attention away from the larger thighs and hips. Find the right style for your shape and buy clothes that flatter your body.

Stay away from: tiny cute purses, big baggy sweaters, small strap shoes, ruffles, decorated tops, tapered pants, and the one that we all think is a “got to have it”— the big, black swimsuit. That is a lot of black! Break up the black with a small pattern or try a two piece tankini for a change! – From Ladies Home Journal
